In a short interview, Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen talks about the result of the first quarter 2017, his main priorities in the next months as well as his expectations for the rest of the year – for Hapag-Lloyd and the whole industry.

Mr. Jansen said, “Today, the market is quite strong. Volume is developing well and we believe that freight rates will recover further, which isn’t illogical after they have been declining for such a long time.”

“It was important for us in the first quarter to continue working on the project with UASC, which is very close to completion. That also means that in Q2 and Q3 we will very much be focused on the integration, apart from of course continuing to offer good service to our customers and negotiating best possible rates for the remainder of 2017 and into 2018 as well.”
