Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is preparing to assist New Zealand’s leading apple exporters by ensuring tens of millions of cartons reach their destination in optimal condition.

MSC says that along with their expertise in reefer services, they have been working closely with exporters to fully understand their needs and to provide fast and reliable services which connect New Zealand to all major international markets.

Thanks to a million new apple trees coming into production this year, the New Zealand apple market is expected to grow to its largest ever export apple crop in 2017, with approximately 21.5 million cartons worth a record $800 million. MSC has established a dedicated and experienced apple team, based in Tauranga, with the sole focus of managing all apple shipments from New Zealand through to their final destination.

New Zealand’s apple sector is set to become a billion-dollar industry by 2022. A secure and strict cool chain is required for to assure a high-quality end product, as the apples grown being grown are regarded as a premium offering in international apple markets.
