The flooding that occurred in the southern provinces of Thailand in December has widely affected many people. Siam Shoreside Services, part of the APM Terminals of AP Moller Maersk Group, has collaborated with the Thai Red Cross in transporting donated dried foods and other items of necessity to those who were affected by the flood.
After the southern provinces began to flood, a large amount of donation started flowing into the Thai Red Cross. While the Thai Red Cross is fully stocked with the means to help, it lacks the manpower to distribute the aid. Siam Shoreside Services has once again lent a hand to support the distribution’s logistics with full container loads of items to Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
Mr. Somkuan Roungsuwan, Head of Transport, Trucking, Siam Shoreside Services, said “We have been assisting the Thai Red Cross in transporting aid since the great flood in 2011. Our intention is to help those affected by the natural disaster, so we try to help wherever we can. Working with the Thai Red Cross, we’ve found that the organization lacks help and support in reaching its desired destinations. We’ve come to supply the organization with manpower and trucking assistance to help transport aid to affected areas.”
Mr. Thijs van den Heuvel, Managing Director, Siam Shoreside Services, said “We are ready to lend a hand to the Thai Red Cross regardless of the situation. If the organization needs something else other than logistics support, we are also ready to answer the call. We are also ready to help the Thai Red Cross in its other humanitarian endeavors to help elevate the wellbeing of all people.”
