“K” Line Enhances Northern Vietnam RORO Services

“K” Line is pleased to announce our latest enhancement of our Asia/Vietnam RORO services which have been established and continued since 2012. In order to accommodate increased demand for RORO transportation to Vietnam, “K” Line have enhanced the service quality for North Vietnam port with high-frequency, fixed day and direct calling from all Asian ports. “K” Line will keep offering a solid RORO service to Vietnam by utilizing our business expertise and know-how which we have acquired thorough our long experience since the service began. The vessel is designed to transport goods with wheels (such as automobile, hook, railway wagons), the first time such kind of vessel calls at and discharges cargo at Tan Vu Terminal – Hai Phong Port.

Port Rotation: Jakarta (Sun)– Singapore (Tue)- Port Kelang (Thu) – Laem Chabang (Sun)– Ho Chi Minh (Tue)– Haiphong (Sat)

According to Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet, General Director of Hai Phong JSC it marked a milestone in the diversification of services types of Hai Phong Port, contributing to boosting cargo traffic through the area of Hai Phong , help for the economic – society development of the city and the northern provinces. This event is a good start to the process of cooperation, development of a new type of service on a large scale. This service will bring success for shipping agents, customers, and Hai Phong Port.

According to Mr. Hung, Hai Phong Port has been successful implementation of the proposed business plan; continue confirming its No. 1 position in the northern port. In which, Tan Vu Terminal Branch is the main unit in the loading and unloading of container and is an important clue in the development strategy, diversifying the types of services to meet the increasing requirements of our customers.

A representative of K Line shipping company, Mr. Nobuyuki Yokoyama, Managing Director of “K” Line headquarters, said: “The relationship between Vietnam and “K” Line began in 1991 when K Line brought introduced container services into Vietnam as the first Japanese direct shipping company in Vietnam. K Line was established in 2007 and has been increasingly promoting business between the two countries.”

Mr. Shunichiro Mizukami, President – CEO of NYK Group Asia, said that NYK recognized the strong development of Vietnam’s automobile market and the number of imported cars is increasing, which motivated NYK to improve their services. “Our new service will be operated both in the North and the South Vietnam. The North will be made at the main branch of Tan Vu Port – Port of Haiphong, the South at Saigon Premier Container Terminal,” said Mr. Shunichiro Mizukami.


Vice Chairman of Hai Phong , Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh affirmed in recent years, the number of goods through ports in Hai Phong area continued to increase at a rate of 10-15% per year. In 9 months of 2016, the number of the goods through all ports in Hai Phong reached 57.8 tons million tons; of which Hai Phong Port JSC contributed over 40% output, with diverse commodities such as container, steel, fodder, construction vehicles.

The first time, a Ro-Ro calls on Hai Phong open opportunities for ports in Hai Phong receiving and circulating such kinds of high-value goods. This is an opportunity to Hai Phong Port continues to confirm the quality for new types of services, increase productivity, revenue, and increase revenue for the city budget.
