Dako Worldwide Moves Crystallizer to St. Petersburg

Dako Worldwide Moves Crystallizer to St. Petersburg
Danny Gill

Dako Worldwide Transport GmbH, a GPLN member from Germany, recently handled the transportation of a huge crystallizer from its factory in Istanbul, via the port of Istanbul to St. Petersburg in Russia. This heavy piece had a dimension of 16,54m x 8,20m x 8,47m and a gross weight of 80 tons. The unit was picked up with a 300 ton floating crane and moved to a loading pier. A few days later it was loaded from the pier by a mobile crane into a non-geared vessel taking directly the route from Istanbul through the Mediterranean- Atlantic Ocean- North Sea- and Baltic Sea to St. Petersburg. After arrival in St. Petersburg the crystallizer was discharged by a special heavy crane and loaded on special trailers for the road transport.dako

It was not the weight of the crystallizer but the huge dimension and the center of gravity which made the transport very challenging. After thorough investigations and preparations the transport was executed smoothly and successfully delivered to the final destination in Russia.
