DB Schenker announced the opening of its new company, Schenker Myanmar Company Limited, in an effort to strengthen its foothold into the region.

Schenker Myanmar will manage contract logistics business operations for customers in the telecommunications and consumer goods industries. Schenker Myanmar will have over 80 employees operating the Contract Logistics & warehousing business, while the Yangon Branch of Schenker Thailand will continue to handle freight, customs clearance, and transport operations.

“Myanmar has seen a significant increase in investments and activities in Infrastructure, manufacturing and distribution, since the lifting of sanctions in 2012. We can enable the development and growth of the Myanmar market by bringing our expertise and technology in warehouse design & management, as well as employ and train the Myanmar talent pool with warehouse & supply chain management skills, to serve our customers’ needs.” says Mr. Nay Htoo Aung, General Manager, Schenker Myanmar Company Limited.

DB Schenker has been operating in Myanmar since 1999, as the Yangon Branch of Schenker Thailand, providing freight forwarding services. This also follows the incorporation of a 100%-owned business entity in Cambodia in 2014, as well as in Laos in 2013.

“Together with our established footprint in Thailand and Vietnam, as well as our Laos and Cambodia companies, Schenker Myanmar completes our comprehensive Indo-china footprint, with extensive and seamless capabilities to offer our customers truly end-to-end supply chain management solutions for the Greater Mekong region.” added Mr. Ditlev Blicher, CEO of DB Schenker in Asia Pacific.
