Syngenta Selects Damco to be its Global 4PL Partner

Syngenta, the world’s largest agricultural chemical company, recently signed a contract with Damco as the lead logistics partner (4PL) for its global sea and airfreight shipments.

The already long standing relationship between the two companies is based on four pillars covering the sourcing, execution, monitoring and analyzing of logistics services while providing end-to-end visibility.

Syngenta has begun development of a more flexible and scalable logistics operating model to mesh with Demco’s expertise. One of the key objectives is to harmonize the existing landscape of differing local and regional solutions into one common platform that provides total visibility and facilitates further supply chain optimization.

“We are building an industry-leading supply chain solution,” says Marion Matthewman, Head Global Logistics at Syngenta, “and as our global sea and airfreight 4PL, Damco will be a key contributor to that endeavor. They have demonstrated their ability to become a strong business partner for Syngenta, and this new agreement will be a key enabler to help deliver our business objectives”

“Syngenta has been a key customer for Damco for many years,” says Anthony Elwine, Damco’s Global Head for the Chemical Vertical. “They know from experience that we are familiar with the specific requirements and regulations that apply to logistics for the chemical industry, where most of the cargo is classified as ‘dangerous goods’. Combining that specific expertise with our 4PL capability created a perfect match with Syngenta’s requirements.”
